Traffic restrictions on Kazakhstan's border highways
Kazakhstan has suspended traffic on key highway sections leading to its borders with China and Kyrgyzstan due to worsening weather conditions that affect customs operations.
Sections of national highways in four regions of Kazakhstan have had traffic temporarily prohibited because of deteriorating weather conditions. Main routes from Zhanakurylys to the border of Zhambyl region, from the border of Almaty region to the village of Kordai on the Kyrgyz border, and from Kenen to Kainar are affected. The national road operator KazAvtoZhol states that these restrictions are in place to ensure safety and orderly traffic flow at strategic border crossings with Kyrgyzstan and China. Local authorities ask drivers to obey detour signs and updated traffic information while monitoring weather developments.
