SICERT project to combat cybersecurity threats launched

Solomon Islands launches a new Computer Emergency Response Team project to address rising cybersecurity threats.

The Solomon Islands Government, through the Ministry of Communication and Aviation and in partnership with the governments of Australia, the United Kingdom, and New Zealand, has launched the Solomon Islands Computer Emergency Response Team (SICERT) project to combat cybersecurity threats. The initiative forms part of the government's cybersecurity policy and aims to address the growing vulnerabilities created by the country's increasing reliance on information technology and internet‑enabled services. Officials emphasize that the digital transformation of Solomon Islands has made individuals, businesses, governments, and critical infrastructure more exposed to cyberattacks, underscoring the need for coordinated incident response and national‑level cybersecurity capacity.
