Police apprehensions of criminals continue
Continued large‑scale police operations lead to multiple apprehensions of wanted criminals and underworld figures in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lankan police report that apprehensions of criminals continue across the country, including the arrest and production of prominent underworld suspects before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court under tight security. Authorities state that many wanted Lankan criminals are currently living abroad, and Interpol Red Notices have been issued for 103 suspects believed to be overseas. Of these, 89 Red Notices have already been obtained, and several leading suspects hiding abroad are expected to be arrested and produced before local courts in the future.
