Moldova initiates environmental compliance dialogue with Transnistrian experts
Moldovan and Transnistrian environmental experts met online to coordinate river protection, air monitoring, and forest inventory measures along the Dniester.
Environment ministry officials and specialized agencies from both banks of the Dniester River held the first 2026 working‑group session via videoconference, initiated from Chisinau, to align environmental practices with EU standards. Discussions covered air and water quality, waste management, forest‑resource monitoring, and pollution controls along the Dniester basin. The dialogue highlighted Moldova’s launch of a National Forest Inventory and plans to include Transnistrian forest areas, plus a new automated air‑quality station at Varnita to monitor urban background pollution and support joint emission‑reduction planning.
