ManageMyHealth hack exposes thousands of patients' data
A ransomware attack on New Zealand's ManageMyHealth portal has exposed sensitive medical records of around 127,000 patients nationwide.
The cybercriminal group Kazu claimed responsibility for the attack on New Zealand’s ManageMyHealth (MMH) medical portal, which occurred around New Year's Day. They claimed to have stolen up to 430,000 documents and demanded a ransom of $US60,000. The breach affected an estimated 6–7 percent of MMH’s 1.8 million registered users, whose records are linked to 60–75 percent of general practice clinics in New Zealand.
