Malaysian man arrested in Singapore for scam-related crime

A 27-year-old Malaysian citizen was arrested by Singapore police for allegedly assisting a transnational scam syndicate by collecting cash and valuables from victims in March 2026.

On 24 March 2026, Singapore Police Force announced the arrest of a 27-year-old Malaysian man suspected of involvement in a Government Official Impersonation Scam. He allegedly collected cash and valuables from scam victims in Singapore on behalf of a transnational syndicate. The man was charged on 25 March 2026 under Section 51 of the Corruption, Drug Trafficking and Other Serious Crimes (Confiscation of Benefits) Act 1992 for assisting another to retain benefits from criminal conduct, which carries up to 10 years’ imprisonment, a fine of up to SGD 500,000, or both. This case is part of a broader pattern of cross-border scam activity involving Malaysians arrested in Singapore during March 2026.
