Of these, 18 northern and northeastern provinces are flagged at red levels, considered hazardous to health. The government standard is set at 37.5 micrograms per cubic meter over 24 hours, a level exceeded in many areas. Bangkok and 32 other provinces face moderate air quality, with particulate levels approaching health‑advisory thresholds. The situation underscores persistent air‑quality challenges driven by industrial activity, traffic, and seasonal burning.
