Equatorial Guinea starts 2026 oil and gas licensing round

Equatorial Guinea has launched its 2026 oil and gas licensing round, offering 24 blocks to attract exploration investment and counter declining hydrocarbon production.

Equatorial Guinea has officially begun its 2026 oil and gas licensing round, EGRonda 2026, which will place 24 blocks on offer to international investors. The round, which runs from April through November 2026, includes two onshore and the remainder offshore blocks as part of a government-led push to revitalize the country's hydrocarbon sector. The initiative aims to offset declining oil output and attract upstream investment, supporting broader gas‑based development plans such as the EG‑27 LNG project and the Gulf of Guinea Gas Pipeline. The move is a key element of Equatorial Guinea’s strategy to stabilize revenues amid a structural slowdown in oil production and weak projected growth.
