The M23 armed group has launched renewed attacks in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, forcing tens of thousands of people to flee their homes. The rebels are widely understood to be backed by neighbouring Rwanda, which denies supporting them. The violence continues despite ongoing ceasefire efforts and international mediation, deepening the humanitarian crisis in the region.
