Authorities dismantle 45 criminal groups in Uzbekistan during first two months of 2026
Uzbek law enforcement dismantled 45 criminal groups in nationwide operations in January and February 2026.
Law enforcement authorities in Uzbekistan dismantled dozens of criminal groups and uncovered hundreds of offenses during large‑scale operational measures conducted in January and February 2026. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 6,025 special operational measures were carried out across the country to stabilize the criminogenic situation. As a result, the activities of 45 criminal groups were stopped. Authorities uncovered numerous crimes linked to extortion, illegal weapons possession, illegal gambling operations, human trafficking, the deliberate spread of HIV infection, and the maintenance of brothels. The operations revealed 116 cases of extortion, 315 crimes related to illegal weapons possession, 86 cases involving the organization of illegal gambling activities, 40 cases of human trafficking, and 790 crimes related to the spread of HIV infection and the operation of brothels.
