Finance Ministry: Israel withholds approximately $1.917 billion of Palestine’s clearance revenues
Israel continues to withhold significant Palestinian tax revenues, deepening the fiscal crisis in the State of Palestine.
The Palestinian Finance Ministry reports that Israel has withheld about 1.917 billion US dollars in clearance revenues, deducted under various pretexts, including claims related to the Gaza Strip, prisoner and martyr allowances, and departure taxes at crossings. Since the onset of Israel’s aggression on Gaza in October 2023, Israel has increased deductions to over 50% of monthly clearance revenues and deliberately delayed transferring the remainder, causing severe financial strain on the Palestinian government and limiting its ability to pay public sector salaries and meet other obligations.
