Flu and respiratory illness reach high levels in Ulaanbaatar
Influenza and flu‑like illnesses have reached high levels in Ulaanbaatar, with elevated respiratory infection rates also reported in seven provinces.
The Ministry of Health and the National Center for Communicable Diseases (NCCD) report that nationwide influenza and flu‑like illnesses are at a moderate level, but in Ulaanbaatar City the outbreak has reached a high level. Deputy Director of NCCD O. Batbayar stated that colds and flu are particularly widespread in Ulaanbaatar and seven provinces. Health authorities have urged kindergartens and schools to avoid holding New Year’s celebrations to prevent further spread, and continue to advise vaccination and hygiene measures, especially for children and vulnerable groups.
