The Maldives has formally objected to the United Kingdom's decision to cede sovereignty of the Chagos Archipelago to Mauritius, describing it as a serious concern. The government has also rescinded a letter from the former president to the Mauritian Prime Minister regarding the maritime boundary, which has heightened geopolitical friction in the region.
