Health minister plays down fears of TB outbreak in Klang Valley
Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa addresses public concerns about a reported tuberculosis cluster in Cheras, Klang Valley, emphasizing the situation is under control.
Following a viral notice from a Klang Valley apartment complex management office alleging over 100 active tuberculosis (TB) cases in Cheras, Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa stated that there is no outbreak and the situation is under control. She explained that the MyHSIS (MyATRA) tracker on infectious diseases recorded only 11 TB cases in Cheras over the preceding 60 days and that the ministry is continuously monitoring the spread of TB in the Klang Valley. Dr Zaliha urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information that could cause panic and instead to obtain updates from the official MyATRA application. She also encouraged individuals who are experiencing symptoms of TB to seek medical treatment promptly.
