Coordinated cyberattacks targeted Lebanese state institutions and media outlets, causing widespread outages and raising concerns about sovereignty and internal security.
A series of coordinated cyberattacks struck Lebanon's primary government websites and several major media outlets, including the presidency and various ministries. The attacks began around March 15, initially targeting media organizations, and escalated sharply by March 18 to include core government systems. The Fatemiyoun Electronic Team, a pro‑Hezbollah, pro‑Iranian cyber group linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, claimed responsibility. The operation involved website defacements, intermittent unavailability of services, and the exposure of personal information linked to media personnel. Although there is no evidence of irreversible damage to critical infrastructure, the attacks have exposed significant weaknesses in Lebanon's cyber defenses.
