Laos cracks down on over 6900 criminal cases in 2025
Laotian authorities handled more than 6,900 criminal cases in 2025, the majority of which were drug‑related.
Laos' Ministry of Public Security handled a total of 6,996 criminal cases in 2025, resolving 6,415 of them. The vast majority of these cases were drug‑related, including 3,660 drug trafficking cases and the arrest of 5,643 suspects, 322 of whom were foreign nationals. The ministry emphasized combating drug‑related crime and preventing social unrest, and reported that 4,089 cases were successfully prosecuted.
