Outage of New Vision digital platforms
New Vision's website and e-paper services went offline due to a technical failure at their data center.
On March 25, 2026, around midday EAT, the New Vision website (newvision.co.ug) and its associated e-paper services suffered a major outage. The issue was traced to a sudden failure in the primary data center's redundant power supply systems, causing a cascading loss of access to their core digital content delivery and subscription platforms. The outage disrupted access to breaking news, online subscriptions, and digital archives for users across Uganda and the diaspora. Vision Group's IT team reported that failover systems were slow to activate, exacerbating the duration of service disruption. While no malicious cyber activity was immediately detected, the incident highlighted vulnerabilities in continuity planning for critical national digital news infrastructure.
