A meningitis outbreak has killed 13 people in southern Kazakhstan in recent months, with 59 cases including 21 children under 14 recorded in the Almaty, Qyzylorda, and South Kazakhstan regions. The most recent death was a 17-year‑old boy in Taldyqorghan on June 5. The Kazakhstan Health Ministry states it is in control of the situation.
