Measles outbreak continues in Morocco, health authorities warn of ongoing risk
Morocco continues to experience a measles outbreak with moderate transmission in several regions, prompting sustained public‑health measures.
Morocco has been experiencing a widespread measles outbreak since late 2023, with 25,000 measles cases and 120 deaths reported to date. Transmission remains at moderate levels in a limited number of regions, although the overall number of cases has been declining since early February 2025. The Ministry of Health and Social Protection has activated the National Center for Public Health Emergency Operations and implemented catch‑up vaccination campaigns, enhanced surveillance, and strengthened case management and community‑engagement activities to control the outbreak and prevent further spread.
