World Bank highlights pressure on Georgia's current account from weaker remittances and export reven

The World Bank warns that weaker remittances and declining export revenues may put pressure on Georgia's current account balance in 2026.

According to the World Bank’s Global Economic Prospects 2026 report, Georgia is forecast to record the highest economic growth in the South Caucasus region, at 5.5%. However, the report notes that private consumption is expected to moderate as economic activity normalizes, while weaker remittances and declining export revenues may exert downward pressure on the country's current account balance, creating a near‑term vulnerability for the Georgian economy.
