Ghana records a 74% reduction in malaria deaths from 2021 to 2024, indicating a major decline in malaria‑related mortality.
The Ghana Health Service reports a 74% reduction in malaria deaths, falling from 277 in 2021 to 73 in 2024. Dr Samuel Kaba Akoriyea, Acting Director‑General of the Ghana Health Service, attributes this improvement to progress in malaria elimination efforts as well as gains in immunisation coverage, maternal and newborn care, and HIV and tuberculosis programmes. The reduction is taken as strong evidence that current malaria control strategies are having a significant impact across the country.
