Armenian Military Still ‘Ignoring Azeri Gunfire’

Reports indicate continued Azerbaijani gunfire across the Armenian border, raising fears of escalation or coercion in the peace treaty talks.

Following the announcement on March 13 that Armenia and Azerbaijan have reconciled their differences on the text of a peace treaty, there have been reports of renewed Azerbaijani gunfire across the border into Armenian territory. Azerbaijan has stated it will not sign the treaty without further Armenian concessions, leading Armenian opposition figures to speculate that these violations are intended to pressure Yerevan or prepare the groundwork for a larger military attack. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian has publicly dismissed the possibility of a large‑scale Azerbaijani attack, but critics argue that his unilateral concessions so far have not resolved the underlying conflict and may invite further aggression.
