No Cases of Human Pneumovirus Recorded in Algeria: Health Ministry
The Algerian Ministry of Health confirms that no human pneumovirus (HMPV) cases have been detected in Algeria.
The Algerian Ministry of Health, Population, and Hospital Reform announced that the human pneumovirus (HMPV), first identified globally in 2001, has not been detected in Algeria. The ministry states that Algeria has recorded no cases of HMPV, a respiratory virus that primarily affects young children and the elderly. The National Influenza Surveillance Network continues to monitor seasonal influenza viruses, particularly as colder weather increases the likelihood of virus transmission, but no HMPV cases have been reported so far.
