Increase in Covid-19 hospitalizations and deaths reported in Latvia
Recent data indicates a rise in Covid-19 cases and hospitalizations in Latvia, with five deaths registered among confirmed Covid‑19 patients in the latest weekly report.
In the second week of 2026, the share of positive Covid‑19 tests in Latvia increased to 7.5%, up from 5.4% the previous week, according to the Center for Disease Prevention and Control. The number of patients hospitalized with Covid‑19 has also risen, and authorities reported five deaths among patients with confirmed Covid‑19 infection during that week, highlighting renewed pressure on the healthcare system.
