Finland hospitals see record number of COVID-19 patients and rising flu and RSV cases
Hospitals in Finland are reporting more COVID-19 patients than ever before, with additional strain from high numbers of flu and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) cases.
On Monday, Finland had 322 hospitalised COVID-19 patients, the highest number to date, surpassing recent weekly counts. The Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa (HUS) has increased its ICU units from 15 to 21 to accommodate the growing number of critical COVID-19 cases. Hospitals are also dealing with a surge in influenza and RSV infections, particularly affecting children, prompting health officials to warn of a potentially severe respiratory virus season.
