High levels of atmospheric dust recorded in Paphos, Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca and Paralimni
Unusual dust concentrations in the atmosphere affect air quality and public health across Cyprus, with Paphos and Agia Marina Xyliatou particularly impacted.
Measurements from the Air Quality Monitoring Network of the Department of Labour Inspection show high dust concentrations in the atmosphere, with levels reaching 445.4 μg/m³ in Paphos and 494.9 μg/m³ in Agia Marina Xyliatou. Readings in Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca and Paralimni also exceed recommended thresholds, raising concerns about respiratory health, especially for vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly and patients with pre-existing conditions.
