Criminal Group Involved in Fraudulent Investment Activity Disrupted
An organized criminal group running fraudulent online investment platforms operating out of Sofia has been disrupted by Bulgarian authorities.
Bulgarian authorities have dismantled an organized criminal group that operated several call centres in Sofia, misleading EU citizens into investing in what appeared to be regulated financial instruments. The group used fraudulent online platforms and so‑called social engineering schemes to deceive victims into investing money in fictitious trading, promising high returns. The operation caused substantial financial losses to citizens across the European Union. The large‑scale enforcement action targets the ongoing disruptive criminal activity originating from Bulgaria within the specified timeframe.
