Armenian Politicians 'Alerted' To 'State-Sponsored' Pegasus Spyware Targeting
Armenian information security specialists report Pegasus spyware targeting key political figures from both opposition and government.
Armenian information security analysts are investigating the extent of Pegasus spyware targeting smartphones of prominent political figures. Media expert Arthur Papian confirms that the spyware has targeted individuals from both the opposition and the government. Apple has issued warnings to users, including opposition Pativ Unem leader Artur Vanetsian, that their devices may have been targeted by state-sponsored spyware. The NSO Group's Pegasus software can extract messages, photos, emails, record calls, and activate microphones and cameras remotely. Vanetsian suspects both the current Armenian government and the Azerbaijani government as possible sponsors of the hacking.
