Belarus’s Cabinet of Ministers approved the Ecology state program for 2026–2030, outlining goals to strengthen environmental protection and ensure rational use of natural resources. The program includes six subprograms targeting improved hydrometeorological monitoring, climate impact regulation, water resource management, and pollution control. By 2030, Belarus aims to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 37% compared to 1990 levels, increase protected natural areas to 9.4% of the country’s territory, and improve water and air quality indicators. The initiative also emphasizes decommissioning equipment containing persistent organic pollutants and better wastewater treatment. This marks a major policy step toward aligning national environmental planning with broader sustainable development and climate goals.
