South Korea reports first Zika virus cases of 2026 after overseas travel

South Korea recorded its first Zika virus infections of 2026 in individuals who recently traveled to tropical countries.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) confirmed several cases of Zika virus infection in South Korea after travelers returned from tropical regions where the virus is endemic. Public health authorities are monitoring the situation and advising travelers to affected areas to take precautions against mosquito bites and to report symptoms such as fever, rash, and joint pain. The KDCA has also reinforced surveillance and mosquito control measures around ports of entry to prevent local transmission.
