Yerevan shooting leaves one dead and several injured

A shooting in Yerevan's Ajapnyak district killed one person and injured at least six others, prompting a major criminal investigation.

In the afternoon of February 18, 2026, a shooting occurred in the Ajapnyak district of Yerevan, Armenia. According to Armenia’s Health Ministry, one person was killed and at least six others were injured. The Armenian Medical Centre reported admitting seven people, one of whom later died. Two of the injured were said to be in extremely critical condition. Police are conducting urgent investigative measures, including identifying the injured, establishing the ownership of a bullet-damaged vehicle at the scene, and investigating the suspects’ motives. A criminal investigation has been launched on charges including attempted murder and illegal possession and use of weapons. Armenian law enforcement subsequently launched searches at approximately 40 locations in Yerevan as part of this probe.
