Türkiye to host COP31 climate summit in Antalya in 2026

Türkiye will host the 2026 UN Climate Change Conference (COP31) in Antalya, positioning the country as a key climate diplomacy venue.

Türkiye has been confirmed as the host of the 31st United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP31), scheduled for late 2026 in the Mediterranean resort city of Antalya. The decision follows a compromise agreement reached during COP30 in Brazil, under which Türkiye assumes the COP presidency while Australia takes the lead role in chairing negotiations. The government emphasizes that COP31 will spotlight Türkiye’s expanding renewable energy capacity and its newly adopted Climate Law, which aims to reach net‑zero emissions by 2053. Officials also highlight ongoing investments in solar, wind, and other clean technologies as part of a broader strategy to strengthen energy security and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
