Armenia violent rally in front of the Foreign Ministry

Violent rally in front of the Armenian Foreign Ministry over controversial peace agreement with Azerbaijan.

On 6 April 2026, a violent rally took place in front of the Armenian Foreign Ministry in Yerevan, directed against the controversial peace agreement with Azerbaijan. Protesters expressed anger over the terms of the agreement, which they consider detrimental to Armenia's national interests, and demanded the resignation of the Foreign Minister. The demonstration turned confrontational, with clashes reported between police and protesters. The situation escalated as demonstrators attempted to storm the Foreign Ministry building, leading to the use of crowd control measures by law enforcement. Several injuries were reported on both sides, and a number of arrests were made. The government condemned the violence and reaffirmed its commitment to the peace process, while opposition groups called for continued protests and a broader dialogue on the terms of the agreement.
