Large Criminal Activity

Major cyber‑fraud bust targeting Black Axe in Spain

Spanish police and Europol arrest 34 Black Axe members in Seville, Madrid, Málaga and Barcelona, disrupting a transnational cyber‑fraud ring tied to millions in losses.

In a coordinated operation framed within an ongoing crackdown, Spanish National Police and Europol have arrested 34 suspected members of the Black Axe criminal network in Spain. Most arrests occurred in Seville, with additional detainees taken in Madrid, Málaga and Barcelona. The network is linked to cyber‑enabled fraud that caused over €5.93 million in financial losses, as well as associated crimes such as money‑laundering, recruitment of vulnerable money mules, and exploitation of high‑unemployment regions. During house searches authorities froze more than €119,000 and seized over €66,000 in cash, striking at the core of the group’s operations. The action underscores continued European focus on dismantling large‑scale organized crime structures embedded in Spain.
