Spain Updates 2026 Growth Forecast Amid Oil and Geopolitical Risks
BBVA Research revises Spain’s 2026 GDP growth outlook to 2.4% amid rising oil prices and geopolitical uncertainty in the Middle East.
BBVA Research has updated its Spain Economic Outlook for March 2026, maintaining real GDP growth at 2.4% for both 2026 and 2027 despite heightened geopolitical risks. The bank notes that rising oil and gas prices driven by tensions in Iran could subtract around 0.2 percentage points from GDP and raise inflation by 0.3 percentage points. At the same time, non‑resident consumption and non‑tourism services exports are expected to support external demand, while domestic demand remains buoyed by public policy and relatively low interest rates. BBVA emphasizes the need for additional investment in housing, energy and productivity‑enhancing measures to sustain Spain’s economic momentum in this more uncertain global environment.
