Slovenia launches national health tech pilot in Ljubljana

Slovenia's Ministry of Health has launched a digital health monitoring pilot program in Ljubljana to improve early disease detection and chronic care using connected devices.

Slovenia's Ministry of Health has introduced a major digital health pilot in Ljubljana that integrates wearable sensors, home monitoring devices and telehealth platforms into primary care for patients with chronic conditions. The initiative aims to lower hospitalization rates, improve early detection of health deterioration and reduce pressures on emergency services by enabling continuous remote monitoring and faster clinician response. The project involves several major hospitals and general practices in the capital, with initial focus on diabetes, cardiovascular disease and respiratory conditions. Participation is voluntary and patients receive training and technical support to use the devices and apps. The pilot will run for 12 months, with regular evaluation of outcomes and patient feedback before a potential nationwide rollout.
