Bahamas Weighs In on Middle East Conflict and Regional Security

The Bahamas government expresses concern over the Middle East war and its regional spillover, including heightened security posture and economic pressure.

The Bahamas government has reiterated its concern over the ongoing Middle East conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, warning that the war is disrupting key energy transit routes and increasing security and economic risks for the country. Officials note that the conflict could drive higher energy prices, freight costs, and affect tourism demand. The government also emphasizes that instability in the region may fuel illegal migration, maritime smuggling, and broader unlawful activity in the Caribbean, prompting the Royal Bahamas Defence Force to maintain an active maritime presence in the southern Bahamas and close coordination with the U.S. Coast Guard. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued travel advisories urging Bahamians to avoid Israel, Palestine, Iran, Lebanon, and large parts of the Gulf, while warning that the conflict may no longer be contained and could escalate further.
