ATM skimming group dismantled in Romania and Hungary
Romanian prosecutors dismantle group involved in ATM skimming scheme targeting ATMs in Romania and Hungary.
Prosecutors from the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) in Timisoara have dismantled a criminal group operating an ATM skimming scheme with activities in Romania and Hungary. The group installed skimming devices on ATMs to capture card data and PINs, withdrawing more than EUR 65,000 in illicit funds. Romanian authorities executed eight search warrants in Timisoara and Oradea, collecting evidence and documenting the organized structure of the group.
