Chemical risks at Caribbean ports with no immediate domestic threat

Caribbean ports, including those in Barbados, face potential chemical risks despite currently showing no domestic threat, prompting enhanced response capacity training.

Director of the Environmental Protection Department, Anthony Headley, highlighted that Caribbean ports, including Barbados, face chemical risks such as chemical fires and spills, even though there is no immediate domestic threat. A programme is underway to strengthen practical response capacity for managing chemicals, chemical fires, and chemical spills, aimed at improving preparedness for such environmental incidents.
