Two workers at Dutch nuclear power plant contaminated by radioactive substances
Two workers at the Borssele nuclear power plant in the Netherlands were contaminated by radioactive substances after a small release during work.
During work at the Borssele nuclear power plant in the Netherlands, a small quantity of radioactive substances was released and detected by measuring equipment, triggering an alarm and evacuation of the room. The radioactive substances touched the skin of two workers, who were wearing respiratory protection and did not suffer any internal contamination. A third worker in the room was not contaminated after immediately leaving upon the alarm. The area was cleaned and the work completed, with EPZ investigating the cause. The operator stresses that the event had no consequences for nuclear safety.
