The Health Protection Agency has issued an advisory as hazy conditions persist nationwide, with multiple islands recording unhealthy to very unhealthy air quality levels. Authorities warn that short‑term exposure to the polluted air may cause irritation of the eyes, nose, throat and lungs, headaches, dizziness, coughing, breathing difficulties, and may worsen existing respiratory or cardiovascular conditions. Vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, pregnant women and those with respiratory or heart conditions are at higher risk. The HPA advises limiting outdoor activities, wearing face masks when outdoors, keeping doors and windows closed, and using air purifiers to reduce indoor exposure.
