Costa Rica Is Strengthening Its Capabilities to Address Cyber Threats
Costa Rica enhances national cyber threat preparedness with a new cyber‑forensic and proactive threat management laboratory.
Costa Rica is facing an increasingly complex cyber threat landscape, marked by rising intrusion attempts, exploitation of vulnerabilities in critical infrastructure, targeted attacks against public and private sectors, and gaps in national preparedness. To respond, a European‑funded digital security project is being implemented by FIAP in close cooperation with the Ministry of Science, Innovation, Technology and Telecommunications (MICITT), via Costa Rica’s first cyber‑forensic and proactive threat management laboratory. The initiative aims to strengthen national capacities to prevent, detect, investigate, and respond to cyber incidents and cybercrime, while improving institutional resilience and coordination.
