Nationwide security crackdown targets organized crime gangs
Kazakhstan launched a large‑scale operation against organized crime groups, detaining 20 suspects and seizing weapons, drugs and cash in multiple regions.
Kazakhstan’s security services carried out a nationwide operation targeting organized crime, detaining 20 people across several regions. The operation involved the National Security Committee, the Interior Ministry and the Prosecutor General’s Office and focused on groups involved in illegal arms trafficking, extortion, and vehicle‑theft laundering. Raids and searches took place in Almaty, Shymkent and in the Aktobe, Almaty, East Kazakhstan, Zhambyl, Abai and Zhetisu regions. Authorities recovered firearms, ammunition, narcotics and large amounts of cash as material evidence. Ten of the detained were placed in temporary detention while pre‑trial investigations continue.
