Second Joint External Evaluation of Moldova’s IHR Implementation

International experts conclude a Joint External Evaluation in Chișinău to assess Moldova’s capacity to prevent, detect and respond to public health threats.

Between 16 and 20 March 2026, the Republic of Moldova hosted a second Joint External Evaluation (JEE) of its implementation of the International Health Regulations (IHR, 2005) in Chișinău. The mission brought together 15 international technical experts from multiple countries, technical institutions and international organizations who worked in dialogue with national counterparts to evaluate Moldova’s capacities across all IHR core areas. Key focus areas included surveillance, laboratory systems, emergency response, zoonotic and food safety risks, and cross‑border events. The evaluation aims to identify strengths, gaps and priority actions to strengthen Moldova’s preparedness and response to future public health emergencies.
