Police Raids Target Human Trafficking and Organized Crime Networks

Large‑scale police operations across multiple Dominican cities disrupt human trafficking, prostitution, and organized crime networks.

Dominican Republic security forces conducted a series of extensive raids under operations such as Operation Atlántico in Sosúa and complementary actions in Santo Domingo and Baní. These operations targeted human trafficking rings, illegal prostitution networks, and associated organized crime activity, including illegal arms possession and drug‑related offenses. Over 500 officers participated in Sosúa alone, executing search and arrest warrants across boarding houses, bars, and related establishments. The operations resulted in more than 100 arrests and the rescue of 174 victims, including women, minors, and men exploited by trafficking networks. Authorities seized weapons and other evidence, signaling a broader crackdown on organized crime infrastructure in key tourist and urban areas.
