Tuvalu Coastal Adaptation Project youth-led coral restoration activities
Youth activists in Tuvalu are partnering with the Tuvalu Coastal Adaptation Project to lead coral restoration and community engagement as sea levels and coastal erosion threaten the low-lying islands.
Tuvalu, a low-lying atoll nation, faces escalating threats from coastal inundation, sea level rise, and shoreline erosion that endanger communities, infrastructure, and marine ecosystems. To address these risks, the Tuvalu Coastal Adaptation Project is working with youth-led environmental groups such as Fuligafou, which unites young people through coral restoration, tree planting, and women’s empowerment initiatives. These activities aim to strengthen coral reefs, protect shorelines, and enhance local resilience against climate-driven coastal hazards.
