Economic effects of geopolitical disruptions impact Liechtenstein
Increased geopolitical fragmentation and economic policy uncertainty are hitting Liechtenstein's economy earlier and harder than larger neighbors.
Recent analysis from the Liechtenstein Institute and the Financial Market Authority shows that geopolitical disruptions and heightened economic policy uncertainty are causing Liechtenstein's real GDP to react more strongly than in neighboring countries. A surge in geopolitical fragmentation can reduce Liechtenstein’s GDP within one quarter about three times more than in neighboring economies, while its GDP response to increased economic policy uncertainty is similarly pronounced. Despite this sensitivity, unemployment impacts remain limited by international standards and the economy continues to demonstrate resilience supported by structural strengths.
