Costa Rica issues yellow fever travel‑vaccination update

Costa Rica’s Health Ministry adjusts yellow fever vaccination enforcement dates for citizens and residents traveling to high‑risk countries, effective from March 2026.

The Costa Rican Ministry of Health has announced updated yellow fever vaccination requirements for Costa Rican citizens and residents traveling to certain high‑risk destinations. Effective March 16, 2026, travelers bound for Brazil, Peru, and select high‑risk countries in Africa must present proof of vaccination before departure. The measure reinforces existing rules for travel to Colombia, which has required evidence of vaccination since May 2025. Authorities emphasize that the yellow fever vaccine must be administered at least 10 days prior to travel to ensure protection. The update is aimed at preventing imported cases as regional and global yellow fever activity fluctuates.
