Central Bank Updates Growth Forecast for Barbados in 2026

The Central Bank of Barbados reaffirmed a solid 2026 economic outlook with growth around 2.5–3.0% as infrastructure and tourism investments continue to drive activity.

The Central Bank of Barbados has updated its 2026 economic outlook, projecting real GDP growth of about 2.5 to 3.0 percent, underpinned by sustained momentum in tourism, construction, and business services. The central bank highlighted that a broad investment pipeline, including infrastructure upgrades to airports, seaports, roads, and renewable energy, will support medium‑term expansion toward 3.5 percent annual growth. Fiscal discipline is expected to be maintained even as public capital spending rises, with the government targeting a 4.1 percent primary surplus of GDP. The outlook also notes low and stable inflation, robust external buffers, and tight labour markets that support household incomes. Successful implementation of the Barbados Economic Recovery and Transformation (BERT) 2026 programme will be key to sustaining this trajectory.
