Vanuatu’s National Surveillance Unit has reported two new hospitalized pertussis cases on Tanna, bringing the cumulative total to 67 hospitalizations since the outbreak escalated in late 2025. The overall number of cases has reached 807, with 777 clinically diagnosed and 30 laboratory confirmed. While weekly case counts are falling compared with the peak, the outbreak remains active above the threshold. Health authorities stress that the outbreak is still ongoing and emphasize continued vaccination and infection control, especially in Efate and Tanna where the majority of cases cluster.
